HAT CARE & MAINTENANCE
Every hat tells a story—and with the right care, yours will hold its shape and character for years to come. Whether crafted from wool or a premium beaver–rabbit blend, proper maintenance ensures your hat ages gracefully and remains ready for every ride, road, or night out.
Wool Felt Hats
Wool hats are durable and versatile, but they still deserve a gentle hand. Avoid getting your hat wet or exposing it to harsh weather or heat—wool can lose its shape when saturated. If it does become damp, allow it to air dry naturally on a clean surface, away from direct sunlight or heat sources. Once dry, consult a professional for any reshaping or touch-ups. Never use a hair dryer or heater, as excessive heat can cause shrinking or distortion.
Beaver & Rabbit Blend Hats
Our beaver and rabbit blend felts are known for their rich texture, resilience, and natural water resistance. While more durable than wool, they’re not fully waterproof—avoid heavy rain or soaking whenever possible. If your hat does get wet, gently shake off excess moisture and allow it to air dry naturally on its crown, away from direct sunlight or heat. Once dry, a professional can assist with reshaping if needed.
General Care Tips
- Avoid Moisture: If your hat gets wet, let it air dry naturally—never use direct heat or a hair dryer.
- Proper Storage: Store your hat in a cool, dry place. Never lay it flat or brim-side down, as this can distort the shape. Instead, rest it upside down on the crown, on a hat stand, or in a hat box to preserve its form.
- Preserve the Shape: Always handle your hat by the crown, not the brim, to maintain its structure and integrity.
- Keep It Clean: To maintain the finish, use a soft-bristled hat brush—light bristles for light felts, dark bristles for dark felts—and brush in a gentle, circular motion. Regular brushing keeps the felt smooth and free of dust or lint.
- Shape Refresh: If needed, use a light steam to gently reshape the felt, but avoid over-saturating or overheating the material.
